Committee Information
The goal of the Sustainable Development Committee is to inform, educate, and promote the use of sustainable design, technology, and building practices and to be a resource to the NAIOP Southern Nevada membership.
The SD Committee is partnering with the other NAIOP committees to provide valuable resources and educational outlets to keep the membership well informed on sustainable development issues. Some of the programs that the committee is in the process of developing and refining include:
The SD website – this website will provide information and web links to articles, info on governmental incentives, legislative issues, product and technology resources. The website is intended to be a central resource for the accumulation of sustainable development information.
SD forum – This forum has been established as a subgroup to NAIOP NV’s Linked In group. The idea is that through the forum we can make available the knowledge base of the SD Committee and the membership in general. Members are invited to join the forum and pose questions, comments, discussions on sustainable issues.
Sustainable Awareness – one of the goals of the committee is to raise awareness in the membership of sustainable issues such as greening your workplace or implementing recycling programs. The committee has implemented the Green Tips program which is a series of slides with simple tips that members can implement in their home or workplace. These slides are displayed at monthly breakfast meetings
Sustainable Feature – this is a new program for this year that will feature one project, company, or product that exemplifies the values of sustainable development. This will be done quarterly and an article on the selected candidate will be published in NAIOP Now as well as on the SD website. The committee will take applications to be considered for this program.

Education and Programs – the SD committee is working with Education and Programs to incorporate sustainable topics into breakfast and educational programs.
The Sustainable Development Committee is always looking for new, eager members that are willing to help with our ambitious agenda. If you are interested in helping please join!
