Membership Committee Stay Focused on Providing Value to MembersIt’s tempting; and most people are in on the secret. If things aren’t going well, simply start out each sentence with: “Due to the economy…,” and you can make just about any excuse fly. And yet while there’s no denying the challenges that the recession presents, Benjamin Franklin’s advice is pertinent: “Diligence is the mother of good fortune, and God gives abundantly to industry. So plow deep while the sluggards sleep, and you shall have corn to sell and keep.” The Membership Committee remains focused on its objectives of retaining members, recruiting new members, and providing meaningful opportunities for members to interact with one another. In June, we held our Members Only Mixer at the new M Resort and enjoyed a positive turnout. Coming up next will be a Summer Social Bowling Tournament on Wednesday, August 19th which will take the place of the annual putting tournament. More details on this social will become available shortly. The New Member Orientation breakfasts continue forward as planned. As an organization, we feel fortunate that we still have reason to be holding these orientations, signaling that new members are joining. In addition, the Developing Leader Mixers continue to draw out the younger professionals on a monthly basis. For more information on any of these events, we invite you to the local chapter website at naiopnv.org. In an effort to assist the chapter in strengthening its membership, the membership committee has begun a marketing campaign to reach out to those involved in local retail development. With NAIOP’s strong standing in the office and industrial development industry, many retail developers will find great benefits in joining their voices and networks with us. As retail professionals join the local NAIOP team, each member will profit as the whole organization will improve its position as the premier voice of commercial real estate development.
