Sponsor profile
Platinum Sponsor
Southwest Gas is a premier natural gas company that currently has more than 2,500 employees and serves more than 1.5 million customers in Nevada, Arizona and California. The company is one of the fastest-growing natural gas distribution companies in the nation. The company, which set its roots in Las Vegas in the 1950’s, is principally engaged in the business of purchasing, transporting and distributing natural gas to residential, commercial and industrial customers in the southwestern United States.
Southwest Gas has been committed to excellence in serving its customers, its employees, its shareholders, and the communities in which it operates for more than 75 years. Community involvement is an important part of the company culture.
“NAIOP is an outstanding organization, and our involvement as a Platinum sponsor affords us the ability to network and build relationships with the top commercial developers and builders in the Valley,” said Barbara Mundt, the Commercial Planning Supervisor at Southwest Gas. “It is through these relationships that we are able to work closely with engineers, architects, developers, and agents to provide the support they need to build, sell and lease commercial, industrial and retail properties throughout Las Vegas, which is especially important in the current economic climate.”
Southwest Gas has been involved with NAIOP since 1987 and has been a Platinum sponsor for the past ten years. In August of 2009, SW Gas moved into two different operations centers, one by the Speedway in North Las Vegas and the other one off of St. Rose Parkway in Henderson. The new North Operations center consists of a 2 story office building with a separate maintenance building, storage yard and outdoor living demonstration center. Located at Centennial Parkway and Shatz Street, Southwest Gas worked with many NAIOP members on this project. The outdoor living demonstration center was just awarded the honor award for “Exterior- Common Area Design and Landscape Design”.
In addition to its NAIOP membership, Southwest Gas is also involved in numerous other community organizations including United Way, The Boys & Girls Club, Southwest Gas Trail Hikers (a volunteer group that is in the process of building a trail that will eventually loop around River Mountain), Opportunity Village, The Red Cross, Boy Scouts and Rebuilding Together.
“Southwest Gas has always been a dedicated member of the community,” said Mundt. “We are a company that thrives on working together as a team and enjoys giving back in any way we can.”
