DLI Profile – Adam J. Malan
Adam J. Malan has emerged as a leader in the Southern Nevada commercial real estate industry through an energetic and innovative approach to commercial leasing as well as owner/user and investment sales. Malan was recently named Vice President at The Equity Group, a full-service commercial real estate company providing brokerage, property management, development consulting, construction and investment services. The Equity Group, established in 1980, actively manages over 95 properties totaling over 6 million square feet and has brokered over $350 million in commercial real estate transactions since 2007.
Malan began his career in commercial real estate in 2003 with a local development company where he managed the construction of one of the largest car dealerships in Southern Nevada and oversaw the development, construction and leasing of the Marcello Marketplace, a 135,000 square foot, mixed-use development. Malan also gained valuable experience working for the Las Vegas office of Colliers International before joining The Equity Group.
Additionally, Malan has an active role and ownership interest in Mobile Card Cast, an emerging mobile marketing and technology company with subsidiaries that are specifically focused on developing and marketing mobile technology solutions for the real estate and development industry.
A member of NAIOP since 2004, Malan current serves on the Communications and Programs committees. Malan is also a member of the Developing Leaders Institute (DLI) class of 2009/2010, which he joined to enhance his overall knowledge of the commercial development process and to establish long-lasting connections with peers and mentors. DLI was designed by NAIOP to provide young professionals with skills needed to become industry leaders. The program emphasizes a strong curriculum that includes training seminars on a broad range of real estate topics, development of leadership skills and mentorship by key decision makers in the Southern Nevada commercial real estate community. “DLI has helped me strengthen my relationships with key industry leaders, which opens up opportunities for both business and personal growth,” Malan said.
Malan credits his involvement in DLI with helping him build the skills necessary to flourish in a difficult economy. “I really enjoyed the class on negotiation. In today’s market, there are often multiple buyers looking at good deals. Those who negotiate best typically win,” said Malan.
Malan is an Eagle Scout and provides community service through his involvement with the Links for Life Foundation. He is also an active member of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
